Rare variety
4-5 ft. Tender annual
A selection of Hooker's that produces a tri-color of white, yellow and blue on multiple ears. A delicious short, season corn on a 4-5' stalk that tolerates cool soil. When the yellow shows, it's ready to eat; blue showing, it's really sweet.
Planting Depth: 1"
Soil temperature for germination: 60-80°F
Days to germination: 4-12
Plant spacing: 12"
Days to maturity: 70-80
Full sun: Moderate water
Cool soil tolerant, grows well early in the season. Kernels are white, yellow and blue. Originally domesticated by Mesoamericans, it is a staple food with many other traditional uses.
Home gardeners love to grow corn, and there are many varieties suited to different climates. Plant seeds 1 inch deep in rows or clumps, two weeks after the last frost date. Corn needs rich soil, full sun and adequate moisture to produce good ears.
It is wind pollinated, so if you want to save seed, you will need to either stagger the planting time of different varieties, or plant them 1/4 mile apart.
Develeoped by John Sundquist in Oregon. Produces multiple ears on 6 foot plants.
