Developed by Ferry-Morse, Sugar Dots is being offered to gardeners since 1979, and still it's one of the sweetest, most reliable bicolor varieties available. Early maturing and capable of vigorously sprouting in cool soils, Sugar Dots has a high sugar content and delivers a rich, true corn flavor. Every 6 1/2 foot plant produces well wrapped, easy-to-pick 7 inch ears.
'Sugar Dots' are generally ready for harvest in 85 to 95 days. It is a bi-colored garden corn especially nice for the West coast. It can sprout vigorously in cool soil, and the full cobs have a rich flavor with high sugar content. Each plant produces 2 well-packed cobs.
Originally domesticated by Mesoamericans, it is a staple food with many other traditional uses. Home gardeners love to grow corn, and there are many varieties suited to different climates.
Plant seeds 1 inch deep in rows or clumps, two weeks after the last frost date.
Corn needs rich soil, full sun and adequate moisture to produce good ears.
It is wind pollinated, so if you want to save seed, you will need to either stagger the planting time of different varieties, or plant them 1/4 mile apart.

Planting instructions:
Sow seed directly in the garden after all danger of frost is past and soil is warm. Plant a seed every 4 inches. Thin to 1 plant every 12 inches when plants are 4 inches tall. Control weeds with a mulch and keep plants well-watered, especially when the tops begin to tassel.
Planting info/directions
For better ear fill, plant a number of short rows together instead of a single, long row. This helps insure pollination. For plenty of corn all season, plant early and late varieties.
