Purple beans make a lovely contrast with the lush greens of the kitchen garden.
Sequoia is a stylish, strappy Italian-type romano, with the intense flavor and meaty texture romano bean lovers crave.
Purple beans are grower-friendly: they may be sown in slightly cooler soil for good results.
They tolerate cooler summers, and the purple pods stand out well for easy harvest.
Harvest when beans are not much bigger than 5” long and the color has transformed to deep purple. Beware of over-cooking!
Sequoia is a great variety for children - lending an air of magic to the garden and to the cooking pot, as the purple pods turn bright green when ready to eat
