The Bean Bush Purple Queen, 'Phaseolus vulgaris', has beautiful deep purple pods that turn deep forest green when cooked. The snap bean is eaten pod and all and is one of those vegetables like tomatoes that taste significantly better grown at home rather than bought at a grocery store.
The Purple Queen is a compact plant with round, slightly curved dark purple pods that are easy to find when harvesting. The Snap Bean Purple Queen is a bush type and is upright in form. Plant after the last average frost date.
The Purple Queen Bean is one of the best purple podded, stringless bean varieties available for your garden.
This lovely bean variety features an abundance of 5 to 5.5 inch slender pods of a royal burgundy to intense purple color that turn a brilliant jade green color when cooked.
The pods are produced on a lovely, upright, bush type bean plant. Due to their color, they are very easy to harvest which prevents the typical waste of other varieties where green pods are easily lost amongst green foliage. The Purple Queen Bean is exceptionally hardy, very disease resistant and are easy to grow.
This wonderful bean variety is ideal for northern climates as it has no problem germinating in cool, wet soil.

Use Purple Queen Beans either cooked as snap green beans or alternatively raw in salads.
Purple Queen Beans are resistant to bean beetles and tolerates BCMV. It is resistant to common bean mosaic virus and anthracnose.
Purple Queen Beans can be utilized fresh or are also excellent for canning or freezing.
This bush bean prefers rich, organic, well drained and warm soil. The soil must be kept evenly moist but not soggy.
