Originally introduced by Oregon State University, having been developed at the Oregon Agricultural Experiment Station at Corvallis, Oregon from a cross of Wando and Geneva 168 which was then crossed to Dwarf Gray Sugar Pod. The Oregon Sugar Pod Pea features extremely hardy 3 foot vines which are high yielders of 4 inch flat pods that hold their color well. Oregon Sugar Pod often produces pods in clusters of two opposed to the usual one. This pea variety is extremely disease resistant. This excellent pea variety is high in Vitamins A, B and C. The sweet, crunchy pods are ideal for use in stir-frys. One of the best choices for the short season of cooler climates. Resistant to wilt, pea enation virus and streak virus. Suitable for cold climates and adapted to the Pacific Northwest. 60-65 days to maturity. Go to table of pea varieties |
