Jubilee Sweet Corn was a recent early-midseason all purpose hybrid. Excellent quality for roasting, canning or freezing. Deep narrow yellow kernels on 10-12" ears. High yielding. Holds its quality longer than most sweet corn after being picked. Mature in 77-80 days. Planting guide: Plant in rows 2 1/2 to 3 feet apart. Drop seed every 5 to 6 inches and cover with 1 inch of soil. Plants should be thinned, leaving one stalk every 12 inches. Special Directions For Short Season Climates: Sowing: Plant in full sun outdoors in late spring when soil and weather have warmed and all danger of frost and cool weather has passed. Sow seeds 1 inch deep. Spasing: Sow seeds 4 to 6 inches apart. Space rows 2 to 3 feet apart depending upon available space. Thinning and transplanting: When established seedlings are 2 to 3 inches tall thin or transplant them 8 to 12 inches apart. Germination: Usually 10 days. Keep seedbed moderately moist during germination. Special Advice Pick when kernels are light to medium yellow. To conserve space and for best pollination, plant in blocks made up of short rows, thinned to 8 to 12 inches apart in all directions. Fertilize and cultivate soil prior to planting. To preserve best flavor and tenderness, pick corn just a few minutes before use. Go to table of corn varieties |
