Also known as 'Dragon Langerie' or 'Merveille de Piemonte'.
Tasty, high yielding variety, perfect for the novice gardener.
When the 8" flat pods change from greenish yellow with purple stripes, pick them as a snap bean.
When the stripes turn from purple to red, pick as a shell bean. Ready to harvest in 60 days for fresh beans, 100 days for dry beans.
Stripes disappear completely during blanching, indicating freezer readiness.
A horticultural type bush bean, Dragon Tongue is probably the best multipurpose bean available. It's suited to use as a fresh snap bean or as a shelled bean when fully mature. As a snap, harvest when the flat beans turn from lime green to buffed yellow with bright purple stripes. If dried beans are desired, let pods fully mature. Expect 24 inch tall plants. Light brown seeds with dark mottling
This bean can be eaten raw or served as a vegetable dish, providing a very distinctive and noticeably tasty bean flavor.
Popular with chefs and gourmets. Compact plants set high yields.
