CDC Vantage is a high-yielding, yellow cotyledon lentil cultivar developed by the Crop Development Centre, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It is intended for cultivation in all lentil growing areas of western Canada. The seed coat of CDC Vantage is pale green. It resembles CDC Richlea, the current commercial standard in Canada for the medium green market class of lentil. CDC Vantage is a high yielding, ascochyta resistant, medium green variety with similar seed and plant characteristics as CDC Richlea. CDC Vantage has similar to yield potential compared to CDC Richlea, but seed quality is generally better because of its resistance to seed borne ascochyta. Maturity of CDC Vantage lentil is similar to CDC Richlea lentil, but it is slightly shorter. Seed weight is about the same as CDC Richlea lentil at about 52 g/1000 seeds. CDC Vantage lentil should be an acceptable replacement for CDC Richlea lentil in the export market since the seed coat colour is also similar. Developed in 1999 • Yield: 1752 kg ha–1 • Days to flower: 49 • Plant height: 33 cm • Seed weight: 52 g 1000 Go to table of lentil varieties |
